Early Life and Education

Born Gloria Hallelujah Woods on July 28, 1999, in Memphis, Tennessee, GloRilla was homeschooled until she reached the fifth grade. Subsequently, she attended Martin Luther King Jr. College Preparatory High School, where her rapping journey began.

Mixtapes and EPs 

Under the stage name GloRilla, Woods released her inaugural mixtape, “Most Likely Up Next,” in mid-2019. The next year marked the release of her first EP, “P Status.” GloRilla’s career took off in spring 2022 when she launched the song “F.N.F. (Let’s Go),” in collaboration with producer Hitkidd. The song gained viral popularity on TikTok due to the #FNF Challenge. An official remix featuring rappers Latto and JT followed. Her next single, “Tomorrow,” was part of the Collective Music Group compilation album “Gangsta Art,” and an official remix titled “Tomorrow 2,” featuring Cardi B, became GloRilla’s biggest commercial hit, peaking at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100.

Late in 2022, she released the commercial EP “Anyways, Life’s Great,” which was buoyed by hit singles “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” and “Tomorrow 2,” alongside another track titled “Blessed.” The EP peaked at number 11 on the Billboard 200 and earned a BET Award nomination for Album of the Year. In spring 2024, she dropped her debut commercial mixtape “Ehhthang Ehhthang,” which reached number 18 on the Billboard 200. In 2021, GloRilla contributed to Hitkidd’s tracks “Set the Tone Part 2” and “Hot Potato.” The following year, she was featured on Duke Deuce’s “Just Say That,” the remix of Ciara’s “Better Thangs,” and Latto’s “FTCU.” Early in 2023, GloRilla worked with label-mate Moneybagg Yo on the single “On Wat U On,” which was the second single from his mixtape “Hard to Love,” reaching number 56 on the Billboard Hot 100. Later that year, she appeared on tracks like “Leave the Club” by Don Toliver, “Outside” by G Herbo, and “Embarrassing” by YTB Fatt.

Concert Stampede

A tragic incident occurred in February 2023 during one of GloRilla’s concerts at the Main Street Armory in Rochester, New York, where a stampede broke out when audience members believed they heard gunshots, resulting in three fatalities and seven injuries. The venue has since been closed indefinitely following this incident.
